NOTES:
The prototype exhibited multiple errors, including text alterations on the participant's computer, which complicated the testing process.
The survey was not available in Spanish, and some answers were not active, so I had to guide the response process.
The second part of the test only has audio, as I lost the corresponding video.
Participant # 1
36 years old

"First task: Provide a detailed explanation of the function and purpose of each of the buttons located at the top of the website."
Key Highlight: The participant voiced their interest in having the help button provide access to a 'virtual friend'.

Second task: Locate the survey titled "Eligibility Verification" and complete it.
Despite the prototype having multiple errors, the participant discovered the survey and understood how the interface worked to respond to it.

Third task: The participant clearly understood the purpose of the code assigned upon completing the survey. In his own words, she stated: "This is my identification number on the website."

Fourth task: Navigate back to the main page. The participant had difficulties finding a way to return to the main page and suggested adding a "Home" button.

Fifth Task: Locating the Code Input for Appointment Scheduling. The participant successfully identified the location and clarified the purpose of the code input.

Sixth Task: Locating the chat link to communicate with community members. The link was challenging to locate and comprehend; there's room for improvement in its design.
USER TEST #2
NOTES:
The prototype uses comic strips that do not reflect the experiences of immigrants; they are actually created by the artist @thefakepan. This choice allows me to assess whether people find the option of presenting testimonials through this graphic format appealing and effective.

First task: Locate the testimonials section and narrate LAKEITH's experience.
The participant effortlessly located the testimonials section, read the comic, but encountered various obstacles due to prototype flaws.
The participant recommended using animated comics instead of static ones for a more engaging experience.
The implemented comic size made reading difficult. The panels should enlarge when the user interacts with them.
The participant suggested making videos.

Second task: Locate the link to join the community chat and establish connections among the members.
The participant couldn't find the link and suggested enhancing the instruction and making it clear that it's a button. The participant suggests using the instruction "Start the chat here."
The participant suggested using the "WhatsApp" logo.




Third task: Provide an explanation for each of the buttons located at the top of the website.
The participant found and clearly understood the purpose of the search button.
The participant easily located and comprehended the function of the help button.
The participant struggled to grasp the icon's meaning on the "Activate Speech" button used for text reading. She mistakenly assumed it was for adjusting the volume and recommended changing the icon.
The participant grasped the concept of activating the reading mode and comprehended how the feature operates. She suggest being more specific in the instruction to make it more explicit by using clearer visual cues.

Fourth task: Locating and completing the pre-screening survey.
The participant easily found the link and began completing the survey without any difficulty.

Fifth task: Inquiring with the participant if they understand the "Dictate" option.
The participant quickly found the "Dictate" button and understood its function.
The participant recommended adding text to support the icon.

Sixth Task: Explain the purpose of the code.
The participant understood that this code serves as a password allowing access to the application anonymously.

Seventh Task: Suggest and register a lawyer within the community. The participant found the link and understood how to fill out the form to nominate a lawyer. Additionally, She suggested that the form should allow for information to be submitted, even if it's incomplete.

Eighth Task: Locate the section where the user can find key legal terms/ words.
The participant identified this section with ease, however, the prototype did not function properly.
The participant suggested creating links on specific words to clarify their meaning within the text.

Ninth Task: Locate the news section.
Although the participant found this section without issues, she recommended changing the title to "updates" to make it more appealing.
She also suggested designing more appealing headlines for the news, which would serve as links to different articles.

The participant suggested adding a navigation menu.

The participant suggested clarifying what the code is and its purpose, for people who are navigating the page for the first time.
USER TEST #3
NOTES:
The participant had previously used the platform in an earlier test and was already more familiar with the website's design.
Participant # 2 - Test # 2
38 years old

First task: Locate the "help" button.
The participant found it with ease.

Second Task: Find EDEN's testimonial and brief me on the events surrounding EDEN.
The participant easily located the testimonials section and accomplished the task without any issues.

Third Task: Activate the reading mode.
The participant recognized the button with the speaker icon and knew how to enable and disable it.

Fourth Task: Find out how many H-1B visas were issued in the 2024 fiscal year.
The participant quickly found the news section and read two article summaries on the landing page. However, the answer wasn't there, causing confusion.
Each summary should have a "read more" button to signal more information is available, like in a newspaper.
The participant navigated to the "read more" section and began reading the article, but lost interest and therefore didn't find the answer.

The participant clicked on a link and was unsure how to return to the landing page.
Even when guided by intuition, the participant clicked on the logo.
Should there be a "Return to Home" button?

Fifth Task: Locate a specific legal concept and, after finding the information, demonstrate comprehension.
The participant relied on the search function to locate the information, which wasn't the intended user journey. Enhancements to the glossary section are recommended.
The participant was overwhelmed by the text's length and complexity. Even after using the reading option, the content remained unclear.
A more visual and engaging approach is recommended.

Sixth Task: Complete the form to receive personalized immigration assistance.
